hi all, does anyone know if there is a plug in kit for 7 pin towing socket, or is it hard wired?

The OE aftermarket kit is very involved, it is run right through to the front of the car and is incorporated into the central electrics and the CAN BUS system.

i did see that system for sale,
just wondered if there was a plug in the boot.

Unfortunately you can't just splice in like int ye olde days, the body computer picks this extra load up as an error and the dash lights up like a Christmas 🎄......

With proper dedicated and coded wiring, the trailer or caravan becomes part of the system. It will display the extra item in the radio screen when reversing, the alarm protects the towed vehicle, failed bulbs are indicated, the braking system is compensated, and the reverse sensors disabled when you reverse your van or trailer. If you just scotchlock you will get none of this but plenty of warning lights

looks like a fitting then, should have stuck my old xtrail tow car, simple things.
all this computer gubbins on modern cars.
can you get electrics fitted anywhere?
