I hope the pick-up goes well and you enjoy your new car! (y)
No idea about turbo failure, but I'd expect noise and some smoke. But take that with a pinch of salt.
The DSG question is one I faced myself. Alarmed by many stories of DSG problems, I was determined to buy a manual diesel.
The car I...
I've got bad vibes about small engines in big cars as I assume they've had to work hard, so I'm glad you're not looking at one of the 1.0L cars. Here's a chart of the power curves, derived from Skoda data.
You can see that for RPM up to about 3800, the 2.0TDI has more power than the 1.5TSI...
Different engine variants have different brake sizes.
Front disk sizes can be 272, 288, 312 or 340mm and rear disk sizes 253, 272, 310mm.
I wish I could be helpful and say something authoritative about what fits what, but all I know for sure is I have the 312mm front and 272mm rear and I was...
Yeah, I think that pad rotates.
There are a few different variants of the jack, and I nearly bought one with the same weight rating but comes with a ratchet spanner for about £3-4 more, so I figured that would be a better deal. Then I looked again and it was a subtly different jack, and didn't...
I did the same and have been happy enough with the result. (y)
The only issue with the Ali express camera, is that it's super wide-angle (as you can see in Baxlin's pic), though in fairness that's as much a feature as a problem. I don't find the camera very helpful as an aid to positioning my...
Saw this too late. I'd already posted it on the thread about jacking an Octavia, but thankfully you kept up with my thread-hopping. :)
For anyone else interested, here's the Octavia jacking thread link.
I've gone for what seems to be a reasonable if a bit expensive scissor jack. The part that contacts the sill seems sensibly designed for a sill lift.
Where do you position the two post lift pads, not on the sills, I assume?
Ah! I remember this thread.
I had reason to want to jack my car up, and would like to use a better jack than the "Widowmaker" VW jack provided with my spare wheel kit.
I'm not actually sure how to jack the 2013-2020 Octavia up so I can work on it, without damaging my paintwork on the sill or the...
I can't say I feel like I know much about cars these days. I can't even work out how to jack the damned thing up without damaging the underside on my car. I'll have to find an appropriate thread on that, because I don't want to derail this thread.
I have a 2019 Octavia (Production date 10/12/2018 from VIN decode) but I have the "Mit Silikat" G13 coolant resevoir.
Seeing what you've posted about G12evo being factory fit from 2017, how can I tell if mine has G13 or G12evo coolant?
