    Engine block warning

Just for information. I was driving a warm engine (Rapid 1400 petrol) when the car suddenly started to run rough. EPC light and engine block came on. I managed to limp home, only a short distance, and when restating the car all was well.
I booked the car in for a check since I have a long journey planned, and on the way to the garage the same warnings came on.
my guy said straight away that it might be one of the coils on the cylinders. He go me going and fitted a set the day after.
All running sweet now, just so you know in case it happens to you.

In the early days of COP (Coil On Plug) their failure was common but nowadays they only tend to fail after being removed such as during a plug change. Every time we do a plug service we pre warm the customer that this can happen, thankfully plugs typically only need changing every 60k these days.

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

Thanks, Crasher. The car just had an annual service so maybe the plugs were looked at. Not sure at 45,000 miles.
Anyway we are set to go now, I didn't want a risk on an International trip.

Some are changed at 40k, others 60k; it depends on the service schedule. Enjoy your continental sojourn.
