Have it code read to see what has upset it, if it was just a battery fault the SRS ECU usually ignores this and just stores it as a code. As I suspect the battery went flat, did you jump start the car?
Hi,
Wondering if someone can help me out. My airbag light has come on and I am trying to trace it back to when it came on. I am thinking it might of been when I changed my battery but not sure. I have read on other sites that if the exact battery is not installed then it could trigger the light? Anyone know about this? and what do I have to do?
MOT coming up so would appreciate any help.
It is a Halfords battery I installed. See below.
Thanks
Scott

Hi,
Thanks for responding. It was my grans car and it had been sitting so the battery did go flat. It is a 59 plate with 14K mile. I think she did get a jump start then went to halfords to get the battery changed. Would the jump start make a difference or cause any damage?
Thanks
Scott
Yes jump starting can blow control units. Find a local VAG group specialist and have the cars full system scanned, make sure you get a hard copy of the results and then a full code clear and see if the light stays out, if not they need to read the air bag codes again and see what has come back.
