    Burning oil -Skoda Octavia

My Skoda Octavia 1.6 TDi Black Edition is just over 3 years old and done 29000 mile. It was serviced 2 times by Skoda at 10000 miles and 20000 miles. It has started burning oil at approximately 26000 and was almost to edge of the oil check probe. I topped it up to full.

Now I have ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT on and checked for oil. The probe was half way. I have filled up oil but the ENIGNE MANAGEMENT LIGHT is still on.
Please advise. Is it still under warranty?
    Thank you.

It needs a code read to see why the engine light is on, I suggest you get this done at an independent and get a print out BUT make it very clear NOT to clear the fault code. This will cost a few quid but means you are ready for any silly business at the dealer. The light could be a fault with the EGR system but guessing is dangerous. VAG have a very specific and elaborate test for oil consumption and the procedure is long winded but must be followed to the letter. VAG will not action any warranty claim due to an internal engine fault causing high oil consumption unless THEIR calculations show the consumption is in excess of 0.5 litre (by oil WEIGHT used) in a period of exactly 1000KM so 620 miles. Unless you are using significantly more than 0.5L per 620 miles it is not even worth putting yourself through the misery of being refused.

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.
