Question 2003 VRS wrong replacement gearbox?Or have I lost it? Please help

Hi, I need to know I'm not going nuts and would appreciate any input based on your own Mk1 VRS.
I'm running a 2003 Octavia VRS 20v and I've just had the gearbox replaced. I'm sure they have supplied the wrong box, though they are saying it's correct. My car is in standard tune and was fitted with a EHA box when new. I would think even tuned engines should make the same revs at the speeds I've mentioned.
So I reckon, unless I've lost the plot, on a roughly level road, at 1500 revs the car should do 30mph in 4th gear and 40 mph in 5th gear more or less exactly. From 1500 revs in 4th or 5th gear the car should pull without bogging down using a sensible throttle. The car should start to pull well from 2000 to 2500 revs in any gear.

Now, my car at 1250 revs is running 30mph in 4th gear and 40 mph in 5th and now bogs down when trying to gently accelerate. This means I am having to change down at times where the car used accelerate no problem. Also, I am sure it's pulling much lower revs at higher speeds. great for economy I guess, but not fun.

Any input would be appreciated as I need to get this sorted soon. For instance what revs are you at in fifth at 60 mph? Better yet you are in the Mid Sussex area with a standard/ish Mk1 VRS perhaps we could meet up to compare. All the best Clive

Sounds like a diesel box, can you see the code number? My 1U estate has an EHA box with 182k on it, when it does fail or the clutch needs replacing I am going to fit a 02M 6 speed from a Golf Anniversary or Leon Cupra, it is the box it should have had from new.

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.
