    DPF capacity

Does anyone know the capacity of a Yeti DPF? After a regeneration it leaves a small amount of ash which increases over time, how much can it hold before it fails?

The ash is actually residue from engine oil additives which gets past the combustion process (not left over when the soot is burnt off). So if you have an engine which burns little oil and you use the correct low ash oils you'll get much longer DPF life than a sick engine burning more oil. The breaking point for a DPF filling with oil ash residue isn't something I could quote I'm afraid, but my last Yeti had over 150k miles with about 36% oil ash residue build up when I sold it.

The Ash Mass is measured in grams and they vary but 60 grams is typical, VCDS often tells you in the pop up labels.

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

Thanks, I use an app called VAG dpf which when used with a bluetooth adaptor (such as the one below) plugged into the ecu port gives a reading of ash, temperature, mileage since last regen etc. So as I can see the contents of the DPF I was curious to see how much capacity is left after 90,000 miles.
