    Fumes in cabin

    I have a 2014 rapid with 1.2 petrol engine .Recently serviced and m.o.t,'d.Strong smell of fuel/exhaust in cabin only whe n idling or in 1st or,especially, reverse gear .Garage have checked and replaced cabin filter but to no effect.Has anyone any suggestions of what else to check?Grateful for your suggestions.

    The air con unit is supposed to put the intake into re-circulation mode when selecting reverse but then again you should not have fumes coming out of the tailpipe, it should just be CO2 and water vapour so it says to me a pre-cat exhaust leak (usually the flexible coupling) or a crankcase ventilation hose damaged/disconnected and the fumes being drawn into the cabin air intake.

    I am not mechanically trained so I will pass all advice received to the engineer.Many thanks for your suggestions.

    Which engine code is it, CBZA (85PS)/CBZB (104PS) FSI or CGPC (75PS) MPI?

    only info I have to hand isreg.kp14xwc engine size1,197cc.Where else should I look to supply info for you?

    It has the CBZA engine, I have known the injector combustion seals to leak which make a whiff that is difficult to trace.
